About

Horizon’s Wall is a first-person adventure game that runs in your web browser.

Browser Support

So far, I have tested the following browsers:

Browser Grade Notes
Opera A Occasional video hitches, but not as bad as Chrome, and don't significantly affect player experience
Firefox A- Audio fade-ins are occasionally a bit weird
Chrome B Video playback sometimes hitches, also sometimes videos just don't load properly for reasons I can't understand. (Clearing all browser data usually fixes it, which is annoying to do if it's your main browser.)
Safari B- Sounds won't load on older versions, also issues with video syncing which I hope to fix
Safari (mobile) F Crashes constantly during loading, I assume due to limited memory.

Hardware Recommendations

System:

Something big, square, and beige. Older is better, but your OS needs to be new enough that it will run browsers which support fancy stuff like Web Audio. Also, having more than like 50 megabytes of RAM is probably desirable. And a CPU that runs on transistors.

Display:

If you can, dig out an old CRT from your basement. If you don’t have one, just steal a low-res LCD with washed-out looking colours from a nearby computer lab.

Mouse:

A heavily used USB mouse with a loud, hollow click. Beige.

Audio:

Ideally use your computer’s built-in audio, otherwise use the worst set of external speakers you can find.

Keyboard:

Consider completing the ensemble with an old rubber dome keyboard, with brittle keys and worn-off letters. Library computer vibes. Bonus points if the manufacturer has been defunct for more than 10 years.
